The Isle of Bute is an island in Western Scotland. It is one of the islands of the lower Firth of Clyde in Scotland. That is, Bute is located in the Firth of Clyde, the bay or fjord where the river Clyde, at Glasgow, has its mouth.

The McLeas of Bute lived mainly within the central-eastern town of Rothesay and in nearby parts of the island.
